DESCRIPTION: Before Kessa travels to the Midwest on tour with the Piatigorsky Foundation, she will perform her concert repertoire in a local solo recital in Westchester County, New York. This performance will be unticketed and free to the public, though donations are encouraged. Come support Kessa in this early bon voyage concert!

DESCRIPTION: In a concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of Clara Schumann's birth, Kessa Mefford will be playing two pieces from Clara Schumann's Soirées Musicales: Notturno Op. 6 No. 2 and Mazurka Op. 6 No. 5. This concert is part of the Mannes Sounds Festival concert series.

EVENT: Whimsical Birdsong: Beyond France

LOCATION: Stiefel Hall, Mannes School of Music, 55 W 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

DESCRIPTION: Kessa Mefford collaborates with several other Mannes students in an exciting concert featuring Ravel's Chansons Madécasses, Philip Lasser's 12 Variations on a Bach Chorale for solo piano, and the complete Ravel Piano Trio. This concert focuses on the sounds of French Impressionism combined with other influences from other parts of the world. This event is free and open to the public, and is the first official installment of Kessa's performance project featuring the complete works of Ravel that include piano. Collaborators include violinist Laura Pereira del Rio, cellist Jihwon Na, flutist Luisa Mei Bressan, and mezzo-soprano Cloe SanAntonio.

DESCRIPTION: Kessa Mefford, Laura Pereira del Rio, and Jihwon Na perform the entire Ravel Piano Trio as part of a full-day chamber music festival at the Mannes School of Music that takes place every semester.

EVENT: Beethoven's 2nd Piano Concerto with Taconic Opera Chamber Orchestra

LOCATION: Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco, 605 Millwood Road (Route 133), Mount Kisco, NY 10549

DESCRIPTION: As Father’s Day approaches in June, the Taconic Opera Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Jun Nakabayashi, presents the works of three of the greatest fathers of composing: Bach, Beethoven and “Papa” Haydn. The concert will feature the return of concert pianist, Kessa Mefford, performing Beethoven’s 2nd Piano Concerto.

DESCRIPTION: After a house fire in July 2017, months of battling with insurance, and more months of repairs and renovations, the Wacaser family has finally moved back into their home as of spring 2019. Kessa Mefford will be performing a benefit concert in their home to celebrate their homecoming. Half of all donations will benefit the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department that came to their aid. EVENT: Stars of Tomorrow

LOCATION: Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco, 605 Millwood Road (Route 133), Mount Kisco, NY 10549

DESCRIPTION: In this next installment of the Ravel performance project "Whimsical Birdsong," Kessa Mefford will perform Ravel's astounding and rarely performed "Le tombeau de Couperin," alongside some traditional Couperin adapted for the piano. She will also collaborate again with Venezuelan native concert violinist, Laura Pereira del Rio, who has performed in Latin America's biggest halls, to present Ravel's Violin Sonata No. 2. They will be joined by the 1st Prize Winner of the 2019 Sidney Forrest Clarinet Competition, Michelle Hromin, to perform the debut of Dan Montez's "Red Sea Trio." Finally, Ms. Mefford will collaborate with Taconic Opera's resident soprano, Kristina Cook, in Ravel's famous "Shéhérazade." Don't miss this special performance! Get tickets here!
